Meaningful gifts are hard to find in November. Not because there's nothing to buy. Because there's too much.
Every inbox is full. Every feed says "last chance." And somewhere in the middle of it, you're trying to find something that says what you actually mean.
We made this guide to make that part a little easier.
What makes a gift meaningful
A meaningful gift isn't about the price. It's about being specific.
It says I noticed. I noticed you've been running on empty. I noticed you host every year. I noticed you answer everyone's texts before your own.
Mass-produced gift sets are made for everyone. That's what makes them easy to buy and easy to forget.
A gift that means something is made for someone.
If you're stuck, three questions help:
- What has this person been carrying this year?
- What would they never buy for themselves?
- Will it still matter after the wrapping paper is gone?
Why a candle can say more than you'd expect
Most candles are made to smell good. Ours are made to do more.
Each of our candles is built around one intention, named right on the lid. Hope. Empowerment. Optimism. When you give one, the message is already there. You don't have to find the words.
Every candle is designed around four senses:
- Scent. Our blends are built on notes that research has associated with specific moods, through a field called Aromachology.
- Sound. A wooden wick that crackles softly as it burns.
- Color. Each vessel's color is chosen to match its intention.
- Crystal. A genuine crystal sealed beneath the wax, waiting at the bottom.
Each candle also comes with matches and a blank intention card. They can write a word on it. A reminder. Or nothing at all.
Gift sets for the people on your list
We put together four gift sets so you don't have to choose. Each one has two of our 12 oz candles and a wooden wick trimmer. Each one ships free.
For the one who carries everything
They show up for everyone and rarely get asked how they're doing.
This set pairs Hope and Empowerment, our two most-loved candles. One bright, one fresh. Both made to keep them company.
For the host
They set the table, save you a plate, and make everyone feel at home.
Namaste is cinnamon and clove over creamy sandalwood. Nurture is grapefruit and ginger over warm golden spice. One for the table. One for after everyone's gone home.
Namaste is a limited edition, poured in small quantities.
For the friend who needs a minute
Running on empty, and still answering your texts first.
Intuition is cool melon and fresh sage over warm cashmere. Optimism is pink guava and tropical flowers with a fizzy hint of kombucha. Fresh and sunny, for whenever they finally sit down.
For the new parent
Long days, short nights, and a whole new person to love.
Nurture is grapefruit and ginger over warm golden spice. Hope is bright citrus and neroli over driftwood. Warm and bright, waiting for them once the house goes still.
Put your own name on the list
You've been shopping for everyone. You're allowed to be on the list too.
Two of our Classics come to $120, which means they ship free. One to give. One to keep.
A gift that gives twice
Every full-size candle you bring home places one children's book in a Little Free Library in our community. We call it Light + Literature. So far, we've donated 147 books.
A gift set places two.
What people say
One customer bought several of our candles to give as holiday gifts. "My friends loved them," she wrote. "I also love how each candle has its own intention."
Gabrielle, New Jersey
Made by hand, in small batches
Every candle is hand-poured in small batches in West Caldwell, New Jersey, by one maker. We're a BIPOC-owned, woman-owned small business.
That means we can't make thousands. It also means every candle is poured, checked, and packed by a person who cares how it turns out.
When a batch is gone, it's gone until the next one.
Before you order
When do I need to order for delivery by December 24? Order by December 18.
Do gift sets ship free? Yes. Orders of $100 or more ship free within the continental US.
How long does each candle last? Each 12 oz candle burns for up to 72 hours.
What if it isn't the right fit? We accept returns of unused candles within 14 days of delivery, with a full refund.
Fewer things. Each one chosen.
This year, the most meaningful gift might be the one that took a little more thought. Not more stuff. Just the right thing, made by hand, for someone you see.
